I was reminded of the proverb - 'Queen Anne is dead' as I heard the statement of our Home Minister yesterday: 'They are talking about infiltration but we have this report that whether it is BJP or RSS, their training camps are promoting Hindu terrorism. We are keeping a strict eye on it. The Samjhauta Express blast, Mecca Masjid (blast), Malegaon blast - they are planting bombs and blaming minorities for it. We need to be careful for safety of our country.'
Does anyone remember the old song – "Kehni hai ek baat hamen iss desh ke pahredaron se sambhal ke rehna apne ghar mein chupe hue gaddaron se"? India always suffered from threats of people backstabbing the nation from within the country. If Home Minister's version is to be believed then, RSS, which claims to be a cultural entity is involved in anti-national activities. The accusation comes as a shock for many who consider RSS as a champion of Hindu causes, but personally speaking it is a revelation that came late. As a nation, we should not foster any kind of religious extremist outfit - be it Hindu, Islamic or Christian.
In fact, whether RSS can be blamed on the same scale as a terrorist organization is a debate long going in this country. Ironically, an organization built with the motto of promoting the culture, seems to be in dire need to understand what the word HINDU means. HINDU is an embodiment of love, care, respect, patience and service and not bullets. This is what we have leant from our elders. Hinduism is sacred path illuminated by Buddha, Ramchandrji, Chetanya and Shravan Kumar. Gita teaches us love. It is a designer’s religion that offers endless elasticity of adaptations enriched with supple spiritual and philosophical strengths. Its beauty is its diversity.
Unfortunately, from the bullets which pierced the frail body of our Father of Nation to the bomb blasts in Samjhauta Express, it is an unending story of bloodshed. The main objective of this organization is to forge a mass identity based on minorities’ hate. Their yatras are always carefully orchestrated to stir up anger, hate and violence and unleash frenzy. They try to cash on sometimes real and more often on concocted ethical, cultural and religious wrongs based on the past.
The central aim of this extremist outfit is to forge a militant identity by communalizing the areas of education, sports, culture, extra-curricular activities and to penetrate the strong levers of controls of country. They want an electoral dominance piggy backing the chimera of communalism and fundamentalism.
Let everyone know that the legacy of hate and baggage of history have to be buried and it is a mantra that radical Islamists must also learn. India is multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious and multicast society with wide disparities. There are bound to be inherent complex issues. No one should give up. Patience, tolerance and hard work are the name of the game.
