Homemade surprises to make Father's Day special for your dad
Sometimes, a small gesture might touch a heart more than a hundred gifts. This Father's Day surprise your father with homemade ideas that would show him that he is not only a father but a friend, confidante and your support.

FATHER'S DAY is day after tomorrow and people who are yet to come up with an idea can give him a lovely and an unforgettable Sunday. This applies to people who are a little hard on cash this time of the month and can’t afford something flashy or from the Archie’s gallery as gifts. It even applies to people who don’t want to go overboard and keep it simple. After all, memories and efforts matter much more. So what one can do is plan small surprises throughout the day for your dad.

You can start off the day by keeping a homemade card on his bedside table. It could be just a piece of cardboard with a very simple drawing of a tie or a helmet or even a house, with the words, “love you dad,” or something of the similar kind. If drawing is not one of your strong points then you can take a picture of you and your dad and stick that on the piece of cardboard adding some glitter at the edges with the message that you want to convey. Since it is a Sunday so probably your dad would still be in bed, so keep the card in such a place that it would be the first thing that he would see after waking up. That would surely make his Sunday a special day.

To follow, make his favourite breakfast and again if cooking would ruin the love that he would be experiencing for you by now, just go for a simple sandwich of bread and cheese slice with fresh juice. If you want to do something Indian then make some parathas with aloo, and he would appreciate the effort even if the food is not up to the mark! Then hand over a cup of coffee or tea, whichever he loves more.

Throughout the day just remind him that he is special and what he truly means to you. If you have failed to say thank you for the innumerable times that he has supported you, has held your hand while crossing the road or have even scolded you because that makes you a better human being, then do not fail to do so this Father’s Day. You can actually cut out snippets of papers and paste them in bathroom mirrors, his dressing table, on top of the couch, and every other place that he might go or do something on a Sunday. This is bound to bring a smile on his face.

If you are up to it then you can always prepare a special lunch for him, if that would be testing your cooking skills too much then you can forgo the idea and just hang out with him, chat and give him your full attention. You call also watch a classic movie like ‘The father of the Bride’ or if not, make a slideshow of your favourite pictures together with a background song on Windows movie maker and watch it together with some homemade shake or lassi.

Make ice cream desserts after dinner with his favourite flavour of ice cream. You can put various fruits as it is one of those seasons where you would get different kinds of fruits such as mango, banana, apple, watermelon, and grapes, etc. All these fruits and ice cream will make a wonderful tutty fruity ice cream.

To end the beautiful day in a special manner, just give the special person in your life a tight hug. One doesn’t have to speak in order to let the other person know what he truly means. Sometimes, words are not enough but gestures do make a difference. Small notes, a bear hug or simply holding hands does the trick and he is a father, he’ll surely understand what you want to say without words.
