WILL POWER registered his second staright win and fourth of the season win with winning Honda Indy Toronto on Sunday. He defeated Justin Wilson and winner of Indianapolis 500 Dario Franchitti.
Power finished 1.2757 seconds ahead of Franchitti. Ryan Hunter-Reay was third, followed by Tony Kanaan, Graham Rahal, Danica Patrick, Wilson, Marco Andretti, Simona de Silvestro and Dan Wheldon.
Power’s all four win have come on street or road courses. He swept the season opening road race in Sao Paulo and St. Petersburg. And two weeks ago won at Watkins Glen. It was owner Roger Penske’s 150th open wheel victory and 41st in the Indy Racing League. Power congratulated his team for the victory and said, “This whole team works so well together.”
"The tires went off so badly. I am just so happy to win and get a bigger points lead.” He added. After driving six races last season it is his first full season with Team. Earlier he won three Champ Car races, including the 2007 race in Toronto on the tight and bumpy, 11-turn, 1.755-mile Exhibition Place track.
Franchitti gave up the lead to pit with 30 laps left, and Wilson and Power made their last stops a lap later. Wilson hit Power out of the pits and they both finished ahead of Franchitti. After the fifth of sixth caution periods, Power got past Wilson, who spun soon after and dropped from race.
