Honda Recall 2010 after Toyota, List of affected cars

Honda News: The latest news is the Honda Motor Co. (HMC) today Friday, January 29, 2010 announced a voluntary worldwide recall of 646,000 compact cars. After the Toyota recall its the Honda recall which has been announced so that the company can examine window switches that can overheat of exposed to liquid, causing smoke, melting or even catching fire, after a child died when fire broke out in a car last year.
 
It is said that only 10% of its fit hatchbacks recalled will need its switches to be replaced with the remaining requiring the fitment of waterproof skirts to prevent and stop water seeping in. The Honda recall affected models and list of Honda recall consists of its Fit/Jazz and City models, including 140,000 in the United States, 229,000 in Latin America, 171,372 in the UK, where the model is known as Jazz. The recall affects the models manufactured in Japan, China, Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia and India.
 
Honda, the Japanese car maker said that under some severe operating conditions, water, rain or any other liquid may enter the driver’s window and reach the master power window switch, resulting in impaired function of the switch. If the master power window switch is damaged because of the liquid intrusion, it many result in failure of the switch and overheating, which may cause smoke, melting or potentially fire.
 
The Honda recall 2010 comes as Toyota Motor Corp (TM) this week stopped the sales of its most popular models in North America in response to its growing concern that possible defects may cause the vehicles to speed up unintentionally. Toyota on Wednesday also expanded its recall to Europe and to China on Thursday.
