Honda targets higher sales in India
With the growing popularity of Honda City in India, Honda Siel Cars India is looking at an overall sales target of 65,000 to 70,000 units for 2008 compared to 62,000 units last year. The new Honda City is expected to boost up the car sales further.

JAPANESE CAR major Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), is targeting a sale of 65,000 to 70,000 units for 2008.

In the words of A V Prabhu Kumar, zonal head- south, HSCI, “Honda City is one of the most popular models in India and is in great demand. The company is looking forward to selling nearly 65,000 to 70,000 cars compared to 62,000 units last year.

The new Honda City is propelled by 1. 5L, four cylinder new generation i-VTEC engine, offering a five speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

More than 2000 booking have already been made across the country and the delivery will commence from November.

According to Tatsuya Natsume, director- marketing, HSCI, “The new Honda City would definitely boost up the car sales.” He also represented India as the major market for Honda cars in the global circumstances.”

The company is also thinking of expanding the production capacity of its plant in Greater Noida, from 60,000 units to 100,000 units per annum.
