Honda's Amaze outperforms other car brands in initial bookings
Honda Cars (HCIL) has reported sales of 8,488 cars in April, 2013 as against 7,075 cars in the same period last year, registering a growth of 20 per cent on year-on-year basis. In this encouraging figure for the company sales of 4852 Honda Amaze sedans in April 2013.

Within few weeks of its launch that took place last month Honda has received 22,000 bookings for the Amaze, which is way beyond the orders Maruti Suzuki received for its Swift Dzire brand.

According to reports from the market, the Honda Cars India dealerships are finding it difficult to meet the demands it is receiving for its Amaze brand. Seeing the current demand of the car it looks that the diesel version of Amaze could easily become the most successful of all cars ever launched from the Indian subsidiary of the famous Japanese car maker.

Auto expert Murad Beig while giving reasons behind the brisk sales of the Amaze told this citizen journalist , “Honda was already a trusted brand in India. However, it was loosing the market share due to the absence of diesel powered engines in their cars. Now they have rectified it with the launch of Amaze. Along with being diesel powered, the Amaze is spacious and a good looking car. And that is what the cares buyers are getting attracted to as they were also looking for some good option in this segment”.

Presently Honda Cars India Limited has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities i.e. Greater Noida in UP and Tapukara in Rajasthan.

The present production capacity of the auto major allows it to produce only 4,500-5,000 units of the Amaze every month. This limited production of the car may force buyers to wait for little extra time to get their car keys. There is a 1.5 litre iDTEC engine in the new Honda Amaze that has 100PS of max power. The Amze claims to give an fuel efficiency of 25.8 kmpl. To get the E Grade diesel variant of Honda Amaze one has to pay 5.99 lakh rupees. For EX grade prospective buyers have to shell out Rs. 6.24 lakh. The cost of the VS Grade diesel version is kept at 7.60 lakh.
