The people were all sleeping under the open sky, in this chilling weather and all they had was the very little space that the society allows them to occupy. The government should realize the need of the hour and take all these problems seriously.
Yesterday night I went to the Nizamudin Railway Station and I just could not believe my eyes. I was totally horrified and shocked with what I saw there. On the pavement so many helpless, lean and innocent people were lying. Because of the hierarchies of the society they have no home.
The people were all sleeping under the open sky, in this chilling weather and all they had was the very little space that the society allows them to occupy.
The winter chill is a nightmare for the poor as they can’t afford warm clothes for their body.
What is the Central and State Government doing? Can they not provide these people with their basic necessities and give them little space to live in? They are looked upon with contempt and neglect. Their voices and appeals are not heard. They have to submit to situations and occupy the space on the pavement which slowly turns into their home.
We believe and are quite content with the fact that our country is developing. Are we, really? This is a question which is raised every time we come across such a sight. It is really disappointing to see that the situation for the underprivileged in our society has not improved or changed much. It is very difficult to imagine ourselves in their situation.
I am quite sure this is not the only place where one could witness the sordid reality of our times. It is just one of the many. It also reflects and portrays the true face of the society and the hardships faced by the common people, which is indeed very disappointing, disturbing, inhuman, cruel and sad.
I think its high time now. The government should realize the need of the hour and take all these problems seriously. It should fulfill its responsibilities regarding the lives of so many people who are the citizens of India.
