Hostage mastermind arrested, time running out for Nitish Kumar
So far, even after the expiry of the second deadline, there has been no official news from the Bihar government. A concrete solution of the problem might come out as CM Nitish Kumar presides over the all party meeting which is scheduled today.
FOLLOWING THE arrest of two Maoist leaders in Jamui district of Bihar, security forces claimed that one of the two arrested is allegedly the mastermind of the Bihar hostage crisis. The arrested Maoist has been identified as Pramod, as reported by TV channels. After the execution of Hawaldar Lukas Tete, the search and rescue operations have been beefed up.

The corpse of Lukas Tete was found on Friday at the Simra Tari Sringirishi dam near the Kajra police station area. He was reportedly shot in the chest. Superintendent of police, R K Mishra said that a note from the extremists was found near Tete's body which read, “Time is running out fast and if the state government fails to accede to our demand for releasing eight of our colleagues in jails, the other three will meet a similar fate.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Maoists called up various media offices and claimed to have killed another hostage, Abhay Yadav. Yadav is Manikpur station house officer and the hostage identified as Avinash said that they have renewed their interests in holding dialogue with the Nitish Kumar led government.

So far, even after the expiry of the second deadline, there has been no official news from the Bihar government. A concrete solution of the problem might come out as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar presides over the all party meeting which is scheduled to take place today at 4 pm.

However, search operations are in full swing with CoBRA, CRPF, BMP, STF and SAP personnel from the Bihar police conducting intensified search for the remaining hostages. Inspector general (operations), K S Dwivedi is overseeing the rescue operations.
