Candidature from Karnal Lok Sabha was hitting media headlines. The seat which was in Janhit Congress quota was virtually sold by Kuldeep Bishnoi to liquor and real estate giant, Vinod Sharma, but strong resistance by Sushma Sawaraj and Kuldeep's mother Jasma Devi forced Kuldeep to allot ticket to his brother, Chandramohan of Chand-Fiza fame.
Again this led to revolt among BJP leaders and even RSS' top bosses asked party leaders to ensure that this seat is contested by the party. Chandermohan withdrew from the contest taking cover that his late father, Bhajan Lal wanted some Brahmin candidate should contest from here.
Now since, BJP has already allotted Sonipat seat to a Brahmin, Ramesh Kaushik and putting another Brahmin from Karnal will give wrong signals to majority Punjabi community which is annoyed with Chief Minister, Bhupinder Hooda but is annoyed with BJP also for not giving representation to them.
According to top BJP leaders name of party's poll campaign committee chief , Manohar Lal Khattar was considered for Karnal seat but ultimately it was given to Ashwani Minna, owner of a Hindi daily hoping that it will attract Punjabi votes as well as media support.
Minna is close to Arun Jaitely. Minna's candidature has annoyed, I.D. Swami, former union minister of state for home who was also aspirant for ticket. He had also demanded ticket for his wife as party has not given a single seat to women.
Haryana Janhit Congress supremo Kuldeep Bishnoi while addressing press conference at his residence said that BJP has accepted his plea to allot seat of Sirsa(R), in lieu of Karnal , to his party and Janhit Congress has decided to field former MP Dr. Sushil Indora from Sirsa.
