Every state wants some projects to please their own people but where is the money for Railways? Hence in the recent times, Railways depends on concerned State Government’s share to sanction the projects. If Railways were self reliant, this need wouldn’t arise.

For the last one and half decade, it has become a practice to all Railway Ministers to sanction projects, pleasing their own states. Thus the remaining states are suffering because of this unjustified quota in projects and others.

Only two or three zones are in profits like south Central Railway and Southern Railway but when coming to sanctioning of projects, other zones are in front lines.

Unlike other Railway Ministers Dinesh Trivedi had not shown any discrimination in his budget and tried to distribute the funds equally. But the funds he distributed have been found unsatisfactory by some MPs and CMs. What he can do? Railways have no funds. If previous Railway Ministers would have increased the fares according to the increase of rates of other things, it wouldn’t have suffered the paucity of funds.

Nobody is worried about the nominal passenger fare hike but everybody wants amenities and safe journey in return. Why Mamata Banerjee is so much worried about the common man? Has she got any plans or Mantradanda to bring out the Railways from funds crunch?

It is nothing but a childish behavior of Mamata Benarjee and Prime Minister like Manmohan Singh should stop listening to her or otherwise he should step down from the post to maintain his dignity.
