AFTER MAY 16, we all heaved a sigh of relief thinking the Indian polity shall no more be blackmailed by regional parties. But perhaps we could not gauge the impact of DMK's Karunanidhi and his blindfolded (he wears back goggles) eyes blocking the country's interest over the interest of his family like Dhritrastra in Mahabharat.

After five days UPA faced its first roadblock when DMK decided to sit outside the government after its leader Karunanidhi failed to get the most lucrative ministerial berths for his entire clan. The great Karunanidhi drunk by power of his new victory in Tamilnadu which perhaps made him blind too thinks that his children and nephews are the most suited to rule the country and must be appointed to head most oiled and profitable ministries in Manmohan Singh's cabinet.

The Prime Minister in his view is not entitled to decide the suitability of a person to be appointed minister in a particular ministry. T R Balu and Raja with controversial backgrounds must be made ministers even though Manmohan Singh thinks otherwise simply because these ministers shall fill the coffers of Karunannidhi and his clan and also bring money for DMK election fund.

Does this Dhritrastrian blindness not make Pappus' votes most ineffective.

Did Pappus of this country who were exhorted to vote - exercise their franchise for this Dhritrastra and his love and patronage for his family?

Now what can the Pappus do to prevent this Dhritrastra who sees his family's interest above the interest of the country? The Dhritrastra who is above constitutional provisions thinks that the PM of the country has no right to chose his cabinet just because his party has some 19 MPs as crucial support for a cobbled government?

Oh Pappu did you vote for such a Dhritrastra and if not are you not feeling helplessness now?
