How tea shops can use mobile POS to enhance business!
Seems weird and unviable, but with technology creating buzz in every retail business, road side tea shops or pan shops too are embracing POS technology and making big strides in their business by overcoming challenges.

But how a tea shop, pan shop or samosa vendor, having limited inventory, can use an advanced POS machine for daily business operations?

Unlike a retail store having thousands of inventory and moderate staff strength, where POS machines can be used for various purposes such as billing, inventory management, staff management, customer relations, vendor management, etc, small retail shops such as roadside eateries, tea and coffee shops or pan shops have limited, but definite usages of POS machines.

Some of the difficulties these small vendors face are taking stock of credits they offer to customers for the refreshments or beverages on a daily basis. Sometimes, they need to track records of company staff members who regularly get their supply, both morning and evening. Most of these vendors take note of these records on a piece of paper or in a small note book daily, which can be lost or misplaced leading to loss of revenue.

Similarly, their daily supply of snack items from external sources too needs to be tracked and recorded.

"Mobile POS has immense usage in retail business environment of any size and nature.  Besides being mobile, these machines are powerful, sturdy, user-friendly, affordable and versatile. Any retail vendor, even a tea shop, juice shop or pan shop, can afford MPOS and run business successfully. These machines also help retailers to accept payments through various modes – cash, card, credit or digital wallets," says Bhaskar Venkatraman, CEO and Director of Millennium India, a pioneer in digitalizing retail vendors in India through POS technology.

Mohan, a tea and snacks stall vendor in Chennai vouches for the MPOS: "My shop is located amidst small and medium enterprises in the industrial area. So, people coming to my shop are invariably daily wagers, workers or truck drivers. Since most of them are regulars, they wish to pay the money at the end of the month. But keeping the track of their records daily is a daunting task, especially during the peak hours. On an average I make around 600 tea cups per day and of which around 400 cups are being offered on credit. This includes companies where I supply in bulk quantity.  Since I have a mobile POS machine now, I can do the billing along with maintaining the digital records of credits of both customers and suppliers. I don't have to fear about losing anything and my business now looks pretty good."

Not only Mohan, there are other vendors too who are involved in various small retail business have adopted mobile POS technology to reduce the loss, improve business operations and enhance customer satisfaction.

Srinivasan, who runs a snack-cum-mini eatery shop in Mylapore, has been using a mobile POS for the last six months. He said the new machine has helped him to overcome losses and aided to bring new customers.

"Earlier, I was not sure about using this machine as I was comfortable in traditional method. But with increase in number of customers, tracking the record had become a tough task. Small errors can lead to huge losses. MPOS has helped me to open one more shop in Mylapore recently. My business is growing and I am confident to meet more demands in future," he says.

Mobile POS machines are handy and user friendly and come with tailor-made software to suit every kind of business be it is small, medium or large. With a small one time investment, anyone can own a mobile POS machine and start a retail business.  So, start a success story today with your mobile POS!
