They are either looted by the thugs who are ready to force you to get a forged DL by luring you with their promises of lower costs minus the long waiting queues. Some people just go back home, procrastinating the entire event, but never returning to stand in line for their DL.

People often complain that when they go to get a DL, they do not know what to do and what not to do. Everybody in the Transport Office is busy with their work and the people are left unattended. So, merinews.com brings you the step by step guidance as to 'How to get a DL in Gurgaon'.

You don't get a DL directly. First you get a learner's license or temporary license and after a month of acquiring it, you can go for a permanent one. So the following steps will guide you to an easy method of getting a DL:

  1. The most important thing you need to carry to get yourself a driving license is a pen, two passport-size photographs, proof of date of birth such as passport, matriculation or 10+2 certificate, address proof such as passport, telephone bill, ration card, election ID card.

  2. What you have to do next is visit the E-Disha Center (Single Window Service Counter) at the first floor of Mini Secretariat building (next to District Court) which is located near Rajiv Chowk Roundabout just off the Gurgaon Expressway on the right hand side if one is coming from Delhi to Jaipur side.

  3. Now, get the forms 1 & 2 from one of the counters at E-Disha. Fill these forms and paste your photos. Attach the address and date of birth proofs.

  4. Go to the doctor sitting at one of the counters for the medical checkup and pay the fee of Rs. 150 for the same, get a receipt and attach the same with the documents.

  5. Now comes the part where you need to put in some efforts, stand in the queue to submit all the documents for the licence clerk who will go through the forms and documents and sign the same after getting satisfied with the documents attached and information filled in the forms.

  6. Then go to next counter for depositing the fee of Rs. 110 for license processing etc.

  7. Get your photo shoot at the next counter another and deposit all the forms and documents back to the license clerk who will issue a counter slip confirming that you have applied for driving license (learner). This slip can be produced to the traffic cop who stops you asking for driving license.

  8. Now you can collect your learner license in one week time from the same license clerk by producing the counter slip. You are ready with you learner's license.

After getting the learner's license, the applicant can apply for converting the same into confirmed driving licencein one month time and the following forms and documents would be required. The license will cost you Rs. 500.

The following steps will guide you to further get a permanent driving license.

Visit the E-Disha Center fetch Form No. 4 from a counter, fill the same and past your photograph on it.

  1. Attach the original learner licence and also the DOB and address proofs again with the forms and Get the bunch signed by the licence clerk.

  2. Deposit an amount of Rs. 500 at the fee counter in the same hall.

  3. Visit the third floor in the same at the office of District Inspector who will issue a date for the driving test.
