How to influence your self-perception and dream big
Self-perception is a fundamental process in all interpersonal communication encounters. It is the process by which you become aware of objects and events in the external world and this occurs in five stages such as stimulation, organization, interpretation-evaluation, memory and recall.

Sport and Performance Psychologist, Dr. Shree Advani, while sharing about factors that greatly affect our self-perception, said that this aspect influences our potential and success.

He said that an individual should go with his own values and beliefs and think about what beliefs does he have right now about work, about success, money, health, relationships. What is it that's pushing him forward or what is that's stopping him to succeed?

He also said that, “If clients are coming to me, they are not paying to me for giving knowledge, but they are paying me to unlearn lot of things that they are fixed with. It's for loosening that foundation, removing the unfavorable parts and replacing them or value adding them with positive and resourceful values and beliefs.”

While making friends or communicating with people, be very particular about, who you spend the time with. Just make sure that their company will serve you to live in a better state. Dr. Advani said that, “Try to be with positive people so that you always feel better, because that's the kind of influence you have. So, try to be with people who lift your state, think better, make you feel better and make you believe.”

When coming to language, Dr. Advani says that, “How are you communicating with yourselves, what thoughts are you harnessing, what thoughts are you allowing to breed are the things that influence your self-perception.” Finally he says that, “Try to control your thoughts, because at the end of the day you are the director of your mental movie. You come up with so many images, so many scenes and 90 percent are not in our favor - so edit them, put in new material that is going to be positive and uplifting.
