But you need to make your writing effective, which is not a very tough job.

A quality newspaper article can be generated easily. You can pen down your experiences, ideas or events and this can generate money. But before writing a newspaper article, you will need to learn the basics of such writing; its correct format and you have to do some homework. First of all develop an idea to write about. Study the topic of the article and do extensive research on it. You will need to have expert knowledge about every aspect of the topic, you intend to write about. If you are writing an article for a newspaper, always try to create excitement and make the reader curious.
The first part of your article is the headline. This is the most important element of your article. Your headline must be very catchy, have punch and be able to catch the attention of readers. It should be descriptive in nature also. Your readers must get the general picture and a firsthand idea of the article from the headline itself. The headline should be in the present tense.
The next part of your article is the by-line, where you write your name and the date of publication. Now the body of your article begins with the first paragraph, which is termed as the ‘Lead Paragraph’ or the introduction and this part of a newspaper article has special importance. It should be well structured, well- written and must be highly informative. Readers must get all the necessary and relevant information here. While writing a newspaper article, try to answer vital questions like who is involved; what happened; when; where, why and how it happened.

In the subsequent paragraphs, you may give an explanation and amplification. You may present the data gathered and quotes of the people, you spoke or interviewed about the topic. You may give some additional information to the readers by inserting facts and figures or statistical data about the topic and never forget to include the sources of these data. This will make your article more authentic and readers will get the relevant information about the topic, which enhances their knowledge.
You may provide information about a similar event as well. This is optional but, it makes your content rich and informative. One more thing, if you are writing a follow up article on the news already reported in the past, you must give background information for better understanding. When writing a newspaper article, always be objective and avoid expressing your opinion or views. Write the article without any prejudice and don’t get biased. Use the language keeping in mind the target readers. Write in the third person and use active verbs wherever possible. The sentences should not be complicated or vague. Clarity is the key. Check the spelling and grammatical errors. Get the article proof read, preferably by others. By following these simple steps, you can create a quality article in the right format.
