How we are all responsible for Hyderabad blasts
What does the word 'rape' bring to your mind? It's a kind of dirty word that gives you a filthy kind of feeling, makes you uncomfortable, and shiver in your skin. The word has no other meaning but a form of forceful application of someone on some one. No gentlemen, I am not talking of Nirbhaya, or for that matter of the gang rapes which are still happening every day. I want to bring to your notice how we are engaged in a similar behavior vis-a-vis our country.

This I write in context of the Hyderabad blasts. All those who have died or are battling to survive are as good or as bad as Nirbhaya and are victims of similar crime but of a different kind. What was their fault if they were enjoying a cup of tea? What was their fault if they had gone to watch a movie? What was their fault if they were waiting for public transport to take them home?

I don’t think they were doing anything unlawful at that point of time, but what they have gone through is a rape of an unusual kind. It is a rape of a system, by the failed administration, ruling political class, parliamentarians at the centre, and also by the journalists who were swarming the area like flies on garbage bins.

The centre, because, they knew that this is going to happen, but shirked their duty, the state because they too were aware that blasts will happen and they looked away from their responsibility, rape by the common man, because he was not alert enough to note, watch and report anything untoward happening. He kept mum even if he knew that something fishy was happening. The chai wala and his clients also engaged in the same behaviour, as they were too busy to sell/drink chai and could not even see that there is abnormal movement, or odd people in his vicinity. Journalists are also responsible, as they were the first who declared it a failure of intelligence; then they blamed one particular militant group, to mislead and divert the attention of the agencies trying to join the missing links together by jumping to their own conclusions to increase their TRPs.

I would rather hold responsible the local administration more for this behavior. No one realizes that this could have been avoided, prevented and eradicated if only one shout or phone call, from an alert citizen would have alerted the police or the administration. God bless their souls who have died; God care for those who are injured. God give my country and countrymen astuteness and acumen to tide over such crises. When will the real citizen of India wake up, I wonder?
