HP launches Elitebook 2740 tablet, 2540p netbook
The EliteBook 2740p convertible tablet, is a touchscreen device, albeit with a stylus, that was unveiled today by Hewlett Packard, can actually twist around and lie flat on its keyboard.
THE RECENTLY launched Apple iPad has competition developing fast. On Monday, Hewlett-Packard unveiled its first touchscreen technology laptop, the EliteBook 2740p convertible tablet, a first for the company. The lightweight laptop with a 12.1 inch LED Display has a screen that can actually twist around to lie flat on the keyboard.
The EliteBook 2740p convertible tablet weighs 3.8 pounds. It has an optional outdoor view display, that can let it be viewed on dayight. The touchscreen can be accessed by a stylus and targets a niche business use market, particularly those who have to work in the field.
The Hewlett-Packard device can be yours for $1,599, which is a considerable pinch to the pocket, with conventional laptops coming in for less than $1000. The EliteBook 2740p posesses an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 8 GB system memory, 250 GB hard drive. It comes with a six cell battery that is good for five hours runtime. An add-on battery, will extend this to 21 hours.
Till, the Apple iPad competition includes Lenovo ThinkPad X201, which was launched last month and costs $1,549.
Hewlett Packard also released the the EliteBook 2540p. which is being touted as the most lightweight notebook. Though not touch enabled, it posesses a 12.1 inch screen, weighs 3.3 pounds and on its six cell battery, offers a runtime of eight hours. Its available for $1099.
