THOUGH HP has not officially closed their deal to acquire Palm, the company reportedly plans big for the newly collected mobile operating system. HP is apparently planning to replace the HP Slate that was believed to be put on hold indefinitely last week.
It is believed that the Windows 7-based HP Slate ran too slow. So now that HP has WebOS, there's an option of putting that onto a tablet. HP Hurricane is already said to be in the works, which will run WebOS and will otherwise look like a fairly standard tablet PC. The company has not revealed any further details about the CPU, size, display etc.
Given HP's expertise in the tablet/slate/PC arena, this seems like a perfect branching out for the Silicon based company.
The computer giant’s tablet device will supposedly be released by the third quarter of this year. The code name of the tablet device is Hurricane. It will not run on a typical Windows installation, but will run on Palm’s mobile operating system Web OS.
HP was earlier working on the HP Slate tablet running on Windows 7 which fetched the company some poor reviews. Since Windows is not the most suited operating system for tablets, implementing a mobile operating system like WebOS should definitely prove itself worthy and potentially useful.
