HUDA and MCG defies National Green Tribunal orders: Demolish Gurgaon park
The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) have demolished a part of the Subhash Chandra Bose Park in Sector 14 ignoring the National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders. The NGT had ordered status quo to the particular park after an advocate, PK Sharma, filed a petition to not make a CNG station in the park.
In a bid to move on with their
campaign, ''Congestion-free Gurgaon,' the MCG had started demolishing
the park to widen the roads. As was reported by hindustantimes.com,
PK Sharma in a statement said, '' After I filed my application before
the NGT, they ordered status quo maintained in the park. But two
weeks later, the MCG demolished one entire side of the park blatantly
violating the NGT orders.''
The MCG officials on the other hand
says that the tender for their campaign had been passed on February
4, but the work got delayed as the forest department did not give
them permission initially. Sharma accepts that the civic body has
acquired permission to start their project but the said park was out
of bounds for them. Blaming the HUDA authorities, he also said that
the MCG has felled trees, but the HUDA was a bigger defaulter in this
YK Garg, superintendent engineer, MCG
