Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will issue notices to the plot owners in different sectors in Gurgaon for not paying the External Development Charges (EDC).
The step was taken when an audit was conducted by the authorities to check on the revenue collection from the house owners. As a result, the pending charge billed to lakh of rupees will be recovered from the plot owners at the earliest.
“Notices will be sent to the house owners, most probably be next week. The owners have to acknowledge the same and have to pay the pending charges”, said a senior official as reported by Times of India.
HUDA is gearing up to collect EDC as soon as possible because the pending charges collected by the authority is invested in elevating the city infrastructure and other public facilities.
According to the HUDA regulations, plots measuring 500sq m will have to pay Rs. 415 and house owners with 550sq m will have to shell out Rs. 550 as external development charges.
A delay in the payment of the EDC would lead to a serious penalty i.e. 10% penalty charges from the plot owners or disconnection of the facilities including electricity. The residents, however have not welcomed this step and they seem to be unhappy with the same.
