Sources said that Sri Lankan army did these crimes under the pretence of a supposed connection of Tamil women with LTTE. Women were used for sexual appeasement. The military officers touch girls, kiss them and sometime rape them.

THE ALLEGATIONS of sexual abuse and atrocities of the Sri Lanka Army on the Tamil people living in refugee camps is a common phenomenon. As per human rights organisations, Tamil women in refugee camps in Sri Lanka were often sexually abused by their military guards.

Sources said that Sri Lankan army did these crimes under the pretence of a supposed connection of Tamil women with LTTE. In the refugee camps, there were also reports of innocent persons abused and tortured. People were allegedly made to kneel in the hot sun and they were beaten too.

Women were used for sexual appeasement. The military officers touch girls, kiss them and sometime rape them. It was quite open; everyone could see the military officers touching the girls. Tamil girls usually don't say anything about sexual abuse to anybody.
