THE BOOK “Human Rights in India: Issues and Perspectives” is an edited compilation of papers presented during a recent national seminar on Human Rights. The editing of the book has been done by Professor Syed Mehartaj Begum of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Published by APH Publishing Corporation, New Delhi, the book provides a serious and scholarly reading that runs into 328 pages.
In the book, thirty one papers presented at the national seminar on “Human Rights in India: Issues and Perspectives,” organized by the Department of Political Science, Jamia Millia Islamia, have been divided into five sections as themes. While the first and the last section consist of the addresses of eminent personalities for the inaugural session are the valedictory sessions, the other three sections consist of the papers presented by researchers, scholars and social scientists. Section two of the book titled 'State of Human Rights: An Overview' prove the background information the development of the concept of human rights and associated movements. Further, section two of the book deals with gender issues related to human rights along with the rights of children. While, section four of the book deals with the issues of constitutional provisions of human rights.
Though the book is meant for the promoting the research work in the area of human rights, nonetheless, it can work as a good reference work for serious readers involved with the issues rights-based social actions. The book is available in the form of a library edition.
