Humble caddy father's golfer son is rising golf star
There is a general perception that Golf is a sport meant for the rich people. This game is considered as a pastime for the elite class and is played by the high strata in social circles. But a young boy with humble roots from Chandigarh is chasing an ambitious dream in golf.

Sometimes, the game is also attached status symbol as an activity of CEOs, top level managers, businessmen, army officers, and bureaucrats. Curioulsy, this is not true for the father and the son duo that have proved that golf is a game of confidence and competence, and that one can learn, play and become a golfer of national repute through some inspiration and guidance.

Sucha Singh, the father who is a caddy, and his brilliant son Amrit Lal Lubana, the 13-year-old boy from a  small village Kishangarh in Chandigarh has brought laurels not only for the family but also for Golf Club Chandigarh.

Sucha Singh has worked as caddy for prominent golfer Jeev Milkha Singh. He had a great dream to become a golfer like him but he couldn’t do so. But he saw the hidden talent in his son Amrit Lal who used to accompany him in the Golf course. Amrit Lal started taking guidance from his father. One day while doing a swing in the 18-holes golf course Jeev Milkha Singh appreciated the boy’s confidence and remarked that Amrit Lal shall become a great golfer provided he is given all facilities to learn and practice consistently.

Not looking back, the father started grooming his son and with meticulous hardwork. Amrit Lal became one of the favourites of the members of the Golf Club Chandigarh. The members provided him financial help besides helping him to have a Golf Kit to participate in various Golf competitions.

With the help of inspiration, encouragement and proper training by the father, Amrit Lal participated and  won the golf tournaments held recently in Chandigarh, Delhi and many other places. He has been decorated with many awards, trophies and certificates of appreciation. Amrit Lal at the age of 13 has already to his credit competing and winning in Albatross International Delhi Golf Club Army; he came first in Albratross Dhaula Kuan; at third position (thrice) in Golden Green and again first in Kapurthala Golf Club.

Recently, he again secured the second rank in Golden Green Golf Delhi. I am proud to share that this wonder boy has got the overall first position in British School sector 44 Chandigarh. Amrit Lal has also  won three matches during CGA Cup and attained first position in Chandigarh Golf Club Union. He is planning to play at Ram Bagh Golf club Jaipur at the National level in October this year.
