According to a report by the National Hurricane Centre, the current watch is not for the city of New Orleans. The centre also expects Ida to weaken but, they speculate that it would remain a hurricane as it approaches the gulf coast and is forecast to hit somewhere between Louisiana and Florida.

The hurricane watch is generally taken out on the hurricane type, forecasting conditions which are expected to occur in the next 36 hours. Ida is moving towards the North - Northwest at around a speed of 12 mph. It is expected to increase its speed and turn fully towards north in the next 24 to 36 hours.

It is believed that Ida would cross the Gulf of Mexico through the night and into tomorrow and will reach the Northern Gulf Coast by early morning, Tuesday, November 10. The winds are blowing at a speed of 105 mph. However its intensity will decrease on Monday, November 9.

The US oil companies have shut down their production and are asking their workers to leave and shift from the Gulf. Due to this the price of oil has risen by more than $1 a barrel to reach above $78 on Monday.
