Husband of Hanumantpur Sarpanch short dead
Ignoring appeals by the Chief Minister of Odisha Maoists who are running a parallel administration in South Odisha killed Dev Ganranga, husband of Hanumantpur Sarpanch Lahari Ganranga of Chandrapur block, which is under Rayagada district of Odisha.

SIX ARMED Maoists along with a few followers came to the Sarpach's house late in the night on May 22, and shot her husband dead about 200 meters from the house after asking him to come outside.

The hand-written slip near Dev’s body read that he had paid the price for being a suspected police informer.  The letter also threatened seven others in the village who would face the same fate.

The Vansadhara division of Maoists under the state organizing committee, through posters, claimed responsibility for the murder. Maoist-affected areas of the state of Odisha have experienced a burst of kidnappings, killings, abductions and terror tactics from different factions of local Maoists. The state government has still not come out with a cogent plan to tackle Maoist insurgency in the state.
