It is also said that, the new substations will be gas insulation-based GIS substations with underground lines, which will occupy very less space. These new substations with 33kV lines will increase the existing transmission capacity of 2000 MVA by another 1200 MVA.
Originally the proposal was made to build 37 substations, but HUDA has allotted the land for only 10 substations. It may allot the land for remaining substations in the future.
The new substations are reportedly being built at sectors 59, 65, 67, 77, 78, 85, 87, 91, 94 and 95 and each substation will cost 30 crores. The construction of the new substation will start in the next month. This master plan has been prepared with an estimate power demand till 2025.
