Hyderabad police gets into damage control mode after video of cop thrashing film director goes viral
After the video of a Hyderabad cop thrashing a short-film director went viral, the city police have now claimed that the person who was thrashed has a criminal past. But does that justify the police thrashing him?

And the cop who thrashed the director was not just any other constable but an additional deputy commissioner of police. The cop has been identified as Ganga Reddy. The police have now claimed that they had received a complaint against the director, Yogi, for sending vulgar messages to a woman.

While enquiring about the messages, the police have claimed that Yogi made some objectionable comment against the person who had lodged the complaint due to which the cop lost his temper and thrashed him.

Though the police have launched an investigation into the incident, the DCP has at the same time clarified that an officer hitting another person was not justified.

Hyderabad police received a lot of criticism on social media when the video went viral, although some were appreciative of the fact as well claiming that those who harass women deserve to be treated like this.

In another incident that shows complete lack of basic human values among the Hyderabad police, pictures of a cop have gone viral in which he is sitting on a chair with his legs on a cot right next to a woman who was supposed to file a complaint.

While that should not have amounted to anything but the fact that a murder had taken place in that house and he had gone there to register a complaint, shows the attitude with which the police treat the public. Although the inspector has claimed that he was sitting like that because the leg of the chair was broken.
