THE REDUCTION in the excise duty has made the car manufacturers to cut off the price for the bigger cars and the SUVs. Every car manufacturer is on the verge of bringing down the cost. The Korean car manufacturer Hyundai Motors has announced a price cut of Rs 500 for its high end sedan Sonata Transform.
Following the price cut, the 2.4 litre Sonata Transform will now be available at Rs 13.84 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Other car manufacturers like Hindustan Motors, Honda, Ford India too have declared the price cut on the high-end models. Beside them the luxury car manufacturers like BMW General Motors India and Toyota Kirloskar Motor have also said that they would pass on the benefits of the excise cut to customers. The government had projected to cut down the additional excise duty on high end cars for the engine capacities of 2,000cc and above by Rs 5,000 per car. But it is a small cut as the cars are from the premium segment. People who are ready to invest a bulky amount on the car, a discount of Rs 6000 may not affect that much.
