CITING NON-PERFORMANCE by the Congress government as well as the role of anti-incumbency factor in the elections,
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Gurgaon, Sudha Yadav is supremely confident that she will emerge the winner in the ensuing
Lok Sabha polls.
Failing infrastructure and poor social services in Gurgaon are the twin planks on which this BJP candidate plans to take on the Congress. “This government has found no solution for crumbling Gurgaon roads, lack of adequate drinking water and poor power supply,” said Yadav.
“I am confident to win the election as the Congress governments both at the Centre and the state have failed to bring development,” said Yadav, who represented the erstwhile Mahendragarh constituency from 1999 to 2004. She asserted that people were unhappy by the policies and actions of the Congress government and this will help her in polls.
Although the Congress claims of development, but where it is, asked Yadav, saying what the government showcases as growth is crass commercialisation, which has benefited only the few.
“Commercial planning here is an absolute disaster and it is visible on the roads, where chaos prevails during rush hour traffic,” said the former MP. Despite Gurgaon being touted as the millennium city, there is no provision of local transport making it impossible to traverse, she quipped.
Another problem faced by the people is unaccounted mushrooming of Bangladeshi population, she said and alluded that the outsiders were being used as a vote bank by the ruling party.
Criticising the Congress on the issue of creating special economic zone in Gurgaon, the BJP leader said that despite large swathes of fertile land having been given to private companies at low prices, no benefit has accrued to the people.
“There is unemployment among the agriculturalists particularly the labourers as no work has started at the SEZs. The private companies have failed to do anything taking refuge in recession,” she asserted.
When asked what will be her priorities, if she became the MP, Yadav listed her priorities which included improving the power situation in Gurgaon, better roads and transport facilities, improved health and education services and emphasis on better policing.
She also questioned the decision of the Congress government of setting up a coal based power plant in Jhajjar. “This power project is not viable as coal is not available in Haryana and secondly this plant will cause huge amount of pollution,” said the BJP leader, who also holds a doctorate from Roorkee University.
On the political side, the erstwhile BJP MP said that people were not happy as the chief minister had spent all the development funds in Rohtak and Jhajjar, adding, “He forget the rest of Haryana and Congress will suffer due to this attitude”.
At the national level, Yadav opined that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the government as Congress has failed to deliver the goods. “Congress allies have jumped the ship and UPA is falling apart,” said the confident BJP leader, who jumped into politics after her husband achieved martyrdom in the Kargil War.
