Sri Lanka, who are the table toppers of Group 1 in the ongoing T20 World Cup, play England later tonight. A victory for the island nation would almost guarantee them a place in the final four, while victory for England would bring back the excitement factor in the group with the three lions getting back into contention for the semi-finals spot.
Sri Lanka have looked a good side wih their victory against South Africa and Netherlands. It is their performance against South Africa, one of the strongest teams in the competition, where they scrapped through winning the game by 5 runs. And when their turn came to play against the minnows, Netherlands, they showed their strength in both the batting as well as the bowling department, thrashing the Dutch national side. On the other hand, England might consider themselves unlucky after their loss against New Zealand via D/L method.
There is enough class in both the teams to entertain the crowd in Bangladesh. England would pin their hopes on players such as Morgan, Lumb, Hales in the batting department and Tredwell, Bresnan, Broad in the bowling department.
But, on paper, Sri Lanka look a better side with players such as Dilshan, Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Matthews, Perera in the batting line up, which looks a formidable one. Their bowling line up is equally good and a team, which comprises of Lasith Malinga can never be ruled out, for he is one of the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game.
The match between the two might primarily lead to an head to head battle against the Sri Lankan batmsen and the English bowlers.
