ICC World Cup 2015: Gayle's back injury troubles West Indies ahead of their crucial tie against UAE
Well, the equation of West Indies cricket team in the World Cup so far has not proved to be very encouraging. They have been able to win just two encounters from five World Cup Pool B matches and apparently the West Indies is now in deep trouble with their star opener Chris Gayle still struggling with back injury prior to their do-or die clash against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday.

This particular match against the UAE is going to determine whether the two-time World Cup winner will qualify for the quarter-finals. The firebrand Caribbean batsman was not able to train with his teammates. Instead of putting in sweat and toil in nets, Gayle stayed back at hotel to rest in the hope of speeding up his recovery.

Stuart Williams, the coach of West Indies, has stated that he was not sure if Gayle will be fit to play against the UAE. Nevertheless, he has given a hint that Gayle might not be risked with a possible quarter-final berth knocking on the doorstep. Reportedly he said, "We would love him to play all the games, but we will just have to manage him better."

The 35-year-old batting sensation opener made a meticulous 215 against Zimbabwe in the ongoing World Cup. With this feat, he has become the first non-Indian to score a double hundred in One-Day Internationals. However, he has failed to deliver big thereafter.

Gayle happens to be the most experienced member of the side, privileged to have played 268 ODIs. He has already accumulated 9160 runs with the help of 22 centuries and 42 fifties. Interestingly, this right-arm bowler also has 163 wickets to his credit.

Gayle is a very popular cricketer on the field known not only for his fiery batting but for his attractive dance as well. He is particularly famous and supported by the Indian fans.
