ICC World T20 India-Pakistan match shifted from Dharamshala to Kolkata
Ending days of speculation, the India-Pakistan World T20 group match was shifted from Dharamshala on Wednesday to the Eden Garden in Kolkata, as per sources.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced its decision at a press conference today, after the Himachal Pradesh state government's reluctance to host the match which is scheduled on March 19.

CEO of ICC Dave Richardson and tournament director MV Sridhar together announced that they had taken the decision after Pakistan had requested for shifting the venue to either Mohali or Kolkata, after strong opposition against the team playing in Dharamshala.

Richardson said, Due to security reasons, the match has been shifted to Kolkata. It was not in ICC's hands but we have been assured security throughout the tournament so that the event can take place in a safe manner."

On Tuesday the Pakistan Cricket Board had approached the ICC, after its two-member team had inspected the Dharamshala stadium on Monday and submitted their report. Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh had said that the state police will not take any action against protesting ex-servicemen or family members of security personnel slain in attacks by Pakistani terrorists.

Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh said on Wednesday, "We have not refused providing security to the match but we won't lathi-charge or use batons on the protesters as they have the right to protest."
