ID Cards to be issued to New Voters of Gurgaon by January 25
The Election Commission of Gurgaon is doing the last rounds of re-checking the voter cards that will be allotted to the newly registered voters on the National Voters Day. Over 49,000 new voters will get their hands on their Voter ID cards by January 25.
The cards will be distributed with the help of 900 polling booths located in different parts of the distict which includes Sohna, Pataudi, Badshahpur and Gurgaon.

People who registered themselves with the voting authorities during the voting registration drive in October- December will get their Voter ID cards by next month.

The low voters registration has been one of the key concern for the voting authorities of Gurgaon as the number of people registered in the voting list is very low.

According to the reports, Gurgaon has a projected population of 20 lakhs and the number of people registered is 9 lakhs approximately. The number of new voters in Gurgaon have elevated upto 59,000.

“If one wants their new election card, then they have to show their slip that was given to them at the time of submission”, said an senior official from the election department as per a TOI report.

The registration of new voters have picked up speed in the last few months when the low voting registration were giving sleepless nights to the election department.

The election authorities have started accepting the rent document as a proof of residence which increased the number of people registering themselves for the Voter ID cards.
