NO DOUBT Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ben set up by the government of India to streamline and control the functioning of the telecom industry. But it appears, TRAI has no control or power to check the harassment and wrongs being committed by telecom companies.
In yet another instance of how customers are being shortchanged by mobile companies, a resident of Amritsar applied for an add-on connection to his service provider (IDEA) on Tuesday, August, 10, 2010, through one of their authorised showrooms. New SIM was issued to him after paying the necessary fee along with necessary documents with the assurance that the number will be made functional by mid night. Since than the customer has been running from pillar to post but all in vain.Even approaching the company’s customers care centre and nodal officer didn’t bear any fruit, what to talk about the show room office or company district head quarter office. The customer has made nearly 50 calls to the show room office; district headquarters office, customer care centre and the nodal office.
Either the call is disconnected or not attended or he is simply asked to contact a particular number is given. This is negative way of treating a customer, who is being harassed for no fault of his. There must be a mechanism to ensure that such kind of harassment does not take place and people are not made to run from pillar to post for no fault of theirs.
