Ideas Conclave for Better Hyderabad-2017
A great assimilation of all cultures, a strong presence of top-class R&D institutions, a fast-growing IT sector, expanding education hub – all these make Hyderabad a vibrant city.

A multitude of influences has shaped the character of the city in the last 400 years and emerged as a global city in a true sense. Former President Pranab Mukherjee had rightly said, "Hyderabad is not just state headquarters or capital city. It is something more, that as cyber city or hi-tech city. It developed the core competence of modern-day civilization - information technology."

The city has emerged as an educational hub to the benefit of not only people of this region or Telangana or Andhra Pradesh but to the benefit of the whole of India. Hyderabad has its national importance. The city has a history of assimilating diverse cultures which is the first prerequisite to be a global city. Besides this hoary past, the city is fast acquiring economic muscle to qualify to be a true global city.

The Socio Economic Outlook 2015, brought out by the Government of Telangana, has observed: "The information technology revolution, economic globalization and the political leadership have been catalyst in nurturing Hyderabad as one of the nerve centers of global economy."

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is also repeatedly expressing his government's commitment to transform the city into an international metropolis. He said, "Hyderabad is geographically safe — with zero chance of earthquakes — and has an ideal climate. Hyderabad is one among the five big cities in the country. Such a big city should be made beautiful and developed in all spheres to make it an international city."

Hyderabad has been ranked as the top Indian city in the quality of living ranking, for the third year in a row, as per Mercer's Quality of Living rankings 2017. Lower crime rate, lesser air pollution and improved options for international and reputable English speaking schools are few of the reasons why the city is being opted for quality living. However, multitude of problems like pollution, slums and infrastructural bottlenecks hold back the throbbing city from emerging as a true global city. Resolution of these issues and creation of a further strong industrial eco-system would ensure rapid transformation of the city into a key global city.

To address the challenges of basic infrastructure and improper planning, besides making the city more attractive for national and international visitors, and providing a platform for various stakeholders to present their ideas to reach the destination of making this city as a real global city, Awareness in Action, a Hyderabad based non-profit think-tank, is organising this two-day conclave in Hyderabad named "Ideas Conclave for Better Hyderabad" on December 16 and 17, at CESS, Begumpet, Hyderabad.

The conclave will focus on four specific areas which plays key role in transformation of the city. They are Infrastructure & Industrial Growth, town planning, medical tourism, security and vision of political parties. Scholars are invited to present their ideas, of which, three best ideas will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 40,000 each, on promoting better Hyderabad. Interested people can participate in this conclave by registering themselves at ideas@awarenessinaction.in or contacting the organizers at 040-4201 8294.
