Identical candidate names in Kottayam constituency
Kottayam sports the reputation of fielding the two most handsome candidates; Jose K Maani and Suresh Kurup. The latter is a long time sitting MP and the former is the son of the longest serving member of Kerala assembly, KM Maani.

THE PARTY candidate Jose K Maani has to see that his rival Suresh Kurup is not winning, but he has to see also that none of the other three identical Joses are chipping away his votes, making the way clear for Suresh Kurup.

In Kottayam constituency, there are twenty candidates in the fray as there are twenty constituencies in the state and it is the constituency that fields the highest number of candidates. Kottayam sports the reputation of fielding the two most handsome candidates; Jose K Maani and Suresh Kurup under the signs two leaves and sickle, hammer and star. The latter is a long time sitting MP and the former is the son of the longest serving member of Kerala assembly, KM Maani.

Apart from these, there are a few more things that make this constituency unique. The first thing is that the party candidate Jose K Maani has to defeat not only his rival Suresh Kurup, but he has to see that none of the other three identical Joses are running away with his votes. This is very crucial because the fight here is really tight and a few votes’ difference may make the biggest difference when it comes to results.

See how they appear in the electronic voting machine? One Jose comes eighth in the machine and he is followed by another Jose Mathew and finally, the most indistinguishable identical name, Jose K Maani Kunnathu follows. It is going to be really tough for the real Jose K Maani to make his way through this election because here the fight is between two equally powerful candidates and the expected vote margin may be too thin that it is extremely unpredictable as to who would make to the Lok Sabha.

Coming to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate, Suresh Kurup, the story is not different either. He has a few similar namers too. When the identical candidates Suresh BN Kurup, K Suresh Kumar and TR Suresh Kumar take seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth position in the voting machine, respectively, the real threat to the real Suresh Kurup comes at the end of the ballot machine. He is Suresh Kurumban. The only consolation the LDF candidate has is that all his identical contenders appear in the second unit of the voting machine.

However hard it may sound to the candidates in the fray, the voters of Kottayam constituency are lucky enough to choose from two most brilliant candidates. Whoever wins, the loss is for the losing candidate/s only. The voters who have voted for both the winner and the loser would benefit equally well, for they both are equally competent. Is this competition not unique too?

.It looks like the same strategy every where. For. Kakinada, AP, one candidate's name is Mootha Gopal Krishna and opposition parties filed another unknown person with Mata Gopal Krishna. If this is the way bad guys want to win, EC should find ways to knock all these weeds as soon as possible.
