Ignoring victims of road accidents: An example showing society has become inhumane
I was watching a popular serial 'News-Fuse' on an Odia channel, which is famous for taking spoofs on various news footages. Some police man's drunk condition, officers not available at office during office hours, politicians consuming tobacco or gutkha, leaders sleeping in Assembly are footages which is presented in this program adding some humour.
The presenter Kuna Tripathi is hugely popular because of his style of presentation and he didn't even spare Baijayant Panda, MP, Kendrapada (owner of the channel) in some footages. His last Fuse (the spoof is referred as fuse here) always comes from social subjects, where it shows how humanity fused in that footage. The footages are either collected from media channels or mobile video and other videos sent by people/viewers.

In the latest episode it was showing footage of a street in Mysore. An injured (accident victim) person was trying to stop vehicles as she was screaming 'help me'. Many vehicles, motorcycles, autos passed the street, but none stopped to help her. The injured person came to the middle of the street, but vehicles instead of stopping diverted and went ahead.

After 10 minutes or so, many people thronged along the road and just looked at the injured person's effort. But none extended any help. After another 10 minutes, an old man came in the middle of the street followed by an elderly lady who too tried to stop the vehicles. Meanwhile, an Ambulance too passed, but didn't stop. People in the other lane watched the scene with lot of anxiousness.

Perhaps they were waiting as to how long the accident victim survives! Finally the victim fell down and died! Many people started thronging around the person.

Such scenes have become common on our streets. Some days ago, there was a news footage where an accident victim was on the street and her mother was crying for help but none stopped to help. People seated inside the vehicles are perhaps have very little heart, rather heartless.

Kuna Tripathi, the presenter of the News-Fuse, rightly asked that who is fused in this footage. Isn't our society fused because of the insensitivity? Have we not forgotten our humanity? Is there any other great job than to help an accident victim? Certainly not! It's our inhumanity that makes us so irresponsible and asocial that we simply ignore a victim only because of our thinking that why to waste time in taking a victim to hospital? Why to stain the car's seat? And why to involve in a police matter?

Basic question is, are we the part of the famous ancient civilization, where helping a distressed person used to be prime duty? If ignorance is considered as the present day civilization, then hell with such civility. I don't think those people who escape from helping a person in accident like emergencies are human in anyway. The same is applied for the crowd, which was just enjoying the scene forgetting their social and human obligation. Only two elderly people (the old man and the lady) perhaps were true human who came on the middle of the street to help the victim!

After some moments of the injured person falling down, he again stood up. He screamed at the people thronged there, that he just had shown the mirror to them. He asked to the crowd to identify to which specie they belong to because they didn't behave as human.

He then revealed that he is an actor and did all these to sensitize people how humanity is departing from our souls. I think he did best thing to sensitize everybody. This is common in our country, where people always take a short-cut and avoid helping victims of road accident. Many who saw that serial might have introspected this.

I would expect our valuable reader to introspect on this attitude, which need to be changed else our society, civilization and culture would no more be considered as humane.
