A STAR studded affair is always set to be surrounded by controversies. Right from movie releases, movie reviews and in recent times, award functions, the stars and events have their share of controversies and the latest being IIFA awards which is scheduled to kick start in Sri Lanka from 2nd-4th June, 2010. With the who's who from the industry being present, the IIFA awards 2010 will not only give the actors their due share of adulation but also host various sporting events in order to help the displaced people.
Though the south Indian movie fraternity has raised questions about IIFA awards being taken to Sri Lanka, the organisers have decided to go as per the scheduled plan, no matter what.
Bollywood's favourite child of controversy, Salman Khan, a big sports buff and a philanthropist himself is reported to defend the industry against the Sri Lankan cricket team along with the likes of other actors. The teams will be lead by Hrithik Roshan and Suniel Shetty. The event will showcase some of the long awaited movies that includes Aisha and Help starring Sonam Kapoor and Bobby Deol respectively. The event will be hosted by Lara Dutta, who of late has been basking in the glory of a line of hit movies during last year. The gimmicks by Saif and Shah Rukh Khan will be missed and all hopes are glued with the younger lot. While the Indian movie fraternity is going places every year, it also makes it a point to make a note of some serious issues plaguing the world. Last year's theme had been global warming and the stars did not just take a note of it but also walked an extra mile to educate the people about its consequences. The event was rechristened to the “Green Carpet” event from red carpet.
