NOTED ENVIRONMENTALIST, Dr RK Pachauri was honored by International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) with the ’Global Business Leadership Award’ at the FICCI-IIFA Global Business Forum in Bangkok, on Friday. The ceremony was addressed by Amitabh Bachchan, who introduced the audiences to Pachauri and his work.
An audio-visual profile of Pachauri was also shown to the global audience comprising of top people from different fields.
Pachauri addressed the issues on climate change and the initiatives that corporates can take to ensure sustainable development and combat climate change. Later, Pachauri and Bachchan planted trees in Lumpini Park, located in the heart of Bangkok.
It is to be noted that Dr Rajendra K Pachauri is the chief executive of TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute). In April 2002, Pachauri was elected the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, established by the World Meteorological Organisation and the United Nations Environment Programme in 1988. The panel is a recipient of the Noble Prize for its work on climate change and its policy dimensions.
