The counseling of successful candidates for allocation of seats will be held from June 9 to 16. The IITs have also altered the process of admission this year. According to new procedure, students will be given second chance to change their subject of specialisation according to their preference, provided that by the time of second counselling there is a seat available for the candidate.
All seven of the old IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee will reserve 18 per cent seats for OBC candidates this year. While at the new IITs at Bhubaneshwar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan 27 per cent of the total number of seats will be reserved for the OBC candidates.
New IITs at Himachal Pradesh and Indore will also offer 120 seats each from this year.
According to reports, total 10,035 candidates have cleared the xam are qualified to seek admission in the prestigious institutions. Nitin Jain (Reg No 2076372) who appeared in JEE from IIT Delhi zone has topped this year’s All India list of successful candidates, reports said.
