Illegal slaughter house raided, 3 calves rescued
The raid was conducted in the presence of Mapusa police. The animal rescue squad raided a house where illegal slaughtering of cattle was going on in a residential area in Shetty waddo.
THE ANIMAL rescue squad and NGO Bharat Swabhiman jointly conducted a raid at Shetty waddo in Mapusa ( 13 Kms from here) on Friday morning and rescued 7 heads of cattle including 3 oxen, 1 cow and 3 calves.
 
The raid was conducted in the presence of Mapusa police. The animal rescue squad raided a house where illegal slaughtering of cattle was going on in a residential area in Shetty waddo. 2 sacks of horns, animal skin, tins of cattle fat and meat were also found there.
 
 
Mapusa police have attached the equipment such as the chopper and knives used for the slaughter of animals and have also arrested one Ghouse Mohiddin Bepari under section 429 of Indian penal code and section 8 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. 
 
 
The President of Bharat Swabhiman, who said that after the slaughter the meat was to be sold into the open market.
 
 
Dr. Greta Costa, incharge of Goa Animal husbandry, stated that such activities have been going on in unhygienic conditions which needed to be tackled effectively.  Mapusa police inspector Rajesh Kumar said that they had managed to nab one person responsible for the illegal animal slaughter.
