Illegal swimming pools in Gurgaon soon to be shut: District Administration
All swimming pools in the city, lacking requisite permissions should be closed immediately as ordered by the district administration on Thursday, failing to which they would face legal action.
Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi, who is also the chairman of the district sports council issued an order stating that swimming pools without licences would be sealed and owners or operators would face action.

He also said that several hotels, housing societies, educational institutions, firms and resorts had swimming pools on their premises without a valid licence. The order came when a couple of days after two children drowned in a pool in a school on Sohna Road.

Sudhir Kapoor, President of DLF City RWA told timesofindia, said “All the pools in DLF are run only after necessary permissions. The approvals are taken without fail.”While authorities claim to have all the necessary permissions of the pools being run in the clubs, Rohit Malik, director (estate) of DLF Limited says “We can't run the pools without necessary permissions.” Even the school authorities are ignorant of the order.

Sarvesh Naidu, director of Pathways World School commented “ We already adhere to all the rules of administration. We have one lifeguard and two coaches. And we keep the pool locked and open it only under adults' supervision.” Dhriti Malhotra, principal of Manav Rachna International School in Sector 46, said that no institution would want an accident to happen on its premises and most places have the permissions in place. "We have deployed six lifeguards, one male coach and one female coach," she said.
