Perhaps, it is time, for the Supreme Court to make an intervention to start this plant for the good of the society. Tamil Nadu has been facing power shortages in the past, which has resulted in closing down of many small scale industries and also affected lots of medium scale industries and even those which are into big category industries.
Thousands of jobs have been affected in these sectors. Tiripur which is best known for garments (mainly under garments sector) production and has contributed immensely towards exports and has earned precious foreign exchange for the country has been affected in a big way rendering thousands of people jobless. Even in other districts many industries which are contributing towards the economic growth have been affected.
If the Kundankulam Nuclear Power Plant opens at the earliest, it is almost sure all the above industries and those which have been affected by shortage of power can breathe life into their operations to contribute effectively towards economic growth of the state and of the country.
The power crisis gripping the state would get a good soluton by the opening of this Power Plant and the resultant big beneficiary would be the displaced labour class who may most likely get jobs which they have been doing earlier in addition to creation of new jobs. It is hoped that the highest body of the country - Supreme Court of India takes note of this issue and ensures that the plant is made operational at the earliest because one day or the other the plant is going to start operations and therefore why should there be delay in starting it.
The adage goes like this, "justice delayed is justice denied" and courts located in any part of the world are supposed to take this adage as the prime mission and vision in their day to day functioning.
