THE FORMER Indian premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi, who was served a 'Blue Corner' notice by the Enforcement Directorate, said he will not consider returning to India to answer charges of corruption and he is not in hiding. He made his first public appearance at the International Sports Event Management Conference in London to discuss the future of Indian sport.
Modi predicted during the International Sports Event Management Conference in London that the IPL would be the most-watched sports league in the world by 2016. However, he didn't answer any questions about whether he would be returning to India, especially as the ED had initiated proceedings to cancel his passport.
Former IPL boss Lalit Modi was suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India from all involvement in Indian cricket, and was replaced as IPL chief by Chirayu Amin in September. He also lost his position as vice-president of the BCCI and the chairman of the Champions League Twenty20. He is being reportedly accused by BCCI of misappropriation of funds of 4.7 billion rupees. He has been living outside India since April.
