Imbibe wisdom from Gandhiji's thoughts and actions: President
Today, the nation is celebrating Gandhi Jayanti to mark the occasion of the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who freed India from the British rulers through non-violent means.

GANDHIJI WAS born on 2 October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. Hence, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on 2 October as a National Day in our country. On this day, many events are held to pay rich tributes to Mahatama Gandhi for his contribution in freedom movement in India.

On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, said, "Gandhi Jayanti is an occasion for us to reflect on the life and contribution of the Father of our Nation. This is also a day to re-dedicate ourselves to Gandhiji’s commitment to non-violence. We need to imbibe wisdom from Gandhiji’s thoughts and actions to address the present day problems that confront our nation and society."

"Mahatma Gandhi had an exemplary passion for justice and an indefatigable spirit of service to mankind. The hallmark of his personality was austerity and transparency. The essence of Gandhiji’s political philosophy was the empowerment of every individual," added Mukherjee.

He urged the people to imbibe the values of truth and non-violence which were all the more relevant in modern times." His (Gandhi's) message and example should give us the strength and inspiration to make sustainable changes that mankind needs for the future."

I too thought of paying my tribute to Gandhiji by writing an acrostic on him. An acrostic is an artistic expression, it is a great language art, It can be a fun way of an expression in writing and a challenge to hunt for right kind of words at the same time.

An acrostic sentence, statement, story or poem is a series of lines or verses where the first letters add up to form a word.

Here is my sentence acrostic on Gandhi.

A: Apostle of peace, a
