THE INDIAN Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that a deep depression over southeast and adjoining east central Arabian sea is likely to develop into a cyclonic storm. The cyclone is likely to hit southern Gujarat and north Maharashtra between Mahua and Dahanu by early hours of November 12, IMD said on Wednesday.

Squall winds ranging between 55-65 kmph to 75 kmph are likely to hit Karnataka, Goa and Maharashta coasts in the next 48 hours. Sea conditions will remain tough in coastal areas and the IMD has asked to people living along the sea coast and fishermen not to venture into the sea. In view of the cyclone warning, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa have issued an alert and asked the state administration to brace up for the situation. The one-day match scheduled between India and Australia in Mumbai is also likely to be affected by the bad weather conditions in the area.
