There were some upsets in the China Masters at Changzhou, as Indian shuttlers defeated players such as Muhammad Hafiz Hashim, Kenichi Tago etc. The Indian team needs to keep this winning momentum going.
PARUPALLI KASHYAP won against Huan Gao from China in the ongoing China Masters Series at Changzhou, with score reading 21-13, 14-21, 21-19. But this was not the only result that went India's way, as other Indian shuttlers also made an impressive start in the series winning their respective matches.
It was RMV Gurusaidutt who displayed some amazing shuttle skills while defeating Muhammad Hafiz Hashim, 21-18, 19-21 and 21-13. Hafiz is also a former All England Champion, thus defeating this player is no little feat for the Indian. Ajay Jayaram, another Indian in the series also won his match against his Japanese opponent, Kenichi Tago in straight sets, 21-13 and 21-17 , reported The Times Of India. Other Indians who has made it to the next round of the competition are Sourabh Varma and PV Sindhu. Though, there were some Indian disappointments in the form of Anand Pawar, Tarun Kona and Arun Vishnu.
But, all these players should continue with their winning formula until the end of the competition. But, it is for sure that the challenge from here is only going to be uphill. Between Guru and Kashyap, one player is sure to go through to the next round, as both these players would clash against one another in the second round. Many would expect Kashyap to win the second round match, but no one can count out Guru after his splendid performance in the first round of the China Masters Series.
From the above results one can proudly state that Indian badminton is moving in the right direction. Though, India may not be able to produce world champions straight away, but the nation is capable of grooming youngsters and taking them to the level, where they can stand out against players from Malaysia, Indonesia, China etc.
