In Haryana, battle of votes is fought by family members of four ex-CMs
Haryana, the land of Mahabharata, where centuries ago battle was fought to save the honour of Draupdi, in democratic age electoral battle is fought by family members of four former chief minsters, Rao Birender Singh, Devilal, Bhajan Lal and Bansi Lal and present chief minister Bhupinder Hooda.

The poll result will decide their political future. Dushyant, great grandson of Ch. Devilal, who had dominated the state's politics for a considerable period, is facing Kuldeep Bishnoi, son of former chief minister Bhajan Lal from Hisar Lok Sabha seat. 

Although Sampat Singh, one time prot?g? of Devilal is contesting on Congress ticket. Late Bansilal's grand-daughter, Shruti Choudhry is contesting from Bhiwani-Mohindergarh seat where Rao Inderjit, son of Rao Birender is contesting from Gurgaon seat bordering the national capital.

The issue of land acquisition and alleged shady land deals of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi in Gurgaon was raised by Narender Modi and Arvind Kejriwal during campaigning. Again the reservation to Jats by Haryana and Union Govt. had divided the electorate among Jats and non-Jats while Jats supporting Congress candidates and non-Jats supporting BJP and Janhit Congress of Kuldeep Bishnoi's candidates.

With Om Prakash Choutala, former chief minister and his son Ajay Chotala in jail for their role in teachers recruitment scam, the campaigning on behalf of Indian National Lokdal was done by Abhay Choutala, younger son of Om Prakash Choutala. Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal also campaigned for them.

Family brigade led by Asha Hooda and Shewta Hooda, mother and wife of Congress candidate from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda campaigned on his behalf as he is ill. Shruti Choudhry's mother, Kiran Choudhary took command of her electioneering, while Kuldeep Bishnoi's wife Renuka Bishnoi and Arti Rao, daughter of Rao Inderjit, BJP candidate from Gurgaon were also active.

Shalu Jindal, wife of noted industrialist, Naveen Jindal, the Congress candidate from Kurukshetra accompanied by film star Raveena Tandon sought votes for Naveen Jindal.
