The institution of Lokayukta in Haryana is in news. While the Karnataka Lokayukta has wide powers and newly enacted Guajrat Lokayukta Act is toothless, in Haryana IAS lobby is so powerful that it throws the letters of Lokayukta in dustbin.

Even despite his repeated reminders his letters were not acknowledged. After his retirement he was made member of Administrative Reforms Commission by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda
. After retiring from there he is eyeing another post.
According to an RTI querry by this citizen journalist
, the then Chief Secretary Premparshant has ignored letter and repeated reminders of Lokayukta for submitting information in connection with a case regarding illegal allotment and sale of shares of Muslims from evacuee property.
The then Lokayukta justice N.K. Sood was examining the case involving a Congress party MLA close to Hooda. It has been further revealed that no record in this connection is available in the office of Lokayukta.
Interestingly the same officer during his previous posting had given sanction of prosecution in same case. It is interesting to mention that at that time the then Chief Minister OP Chautala was hostile to that MLA.
This citizen journalist who has launched signature campaign in Haryana since last two years for empowerment of lokayukta while describing the situation shocking and pitiable had urged Hooda to empower Lokayukta for fighting graft effectively.
In response to a letter by Justice Pritampal, the lokayukat who sought more powers, Govt. has informed him that as and when central Lokpal comes , State Govt. may follow suit. Lokayukta has demanded powers for, taking suo motto cognizance of reports and necessary infrastructure in the form of vehicles and investigating staff.
