In Oscars 2014, Gravity wins maximum awards
This year's Oscars race was one of the most fiercely contested for decades, with a list of so many outstanding films like American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her, Nebraska, Philomena, 12 Years a Slave and The Wolf of Wall Street in line.

But as every movie cannot be the best, the best picture Oscars award was grabbed by '12 Years a Slave' along with best adapted screenplay and best supporting actress award for Lupita Nyong'o.

The harrowing historical drama, '12 Years a Slave', which got the best picture Oscar was directed by British director Steve McQueen, and the movie is based on a true story. Star Chiwetel Ejiofor, whose character was named as Solomon Northup was a free man who was kidnapped into slavery in the South.

Gravity grabbed seven Oscars, along with the best director's award. It seems that gravity exerted its full force to grab seven awards along with the prestigious best director award. The six other categories were best visual effect, sound editing, sound mixing, cinematography, film editing and original score.

The other top categories were best actor in leading role, which was taken away by Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club, for the same movie, the best actor for supporting role was given to Jared Leto. The best actress in leading role crown was given to Cate Blanchett for the movie Blue Jasmine.

This is all about the awards, but every Oscar has some best moments. Here is the glimpse of those moments Oscars 2014:

  • Nyong'o, who got the best supporting actress award, earned a standing ovation as she took the stage to accept her prize.

  • Host Ellen DeGeneres was praised for her hosting at Oscars and she made the Twitter ablaze when a 'selfie' photo she took with stars including Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence went viral.
